Anonymous asked: Would you say that a lot of Anarchist principles are steeped in white privilege? I’m not sure where but I remember reading a post ages ago with something about it. If I can remember, it was saying that the idea of a society without government is beneficial to white persons because the social hierarchy would uphold whiteness itself, without the legal and political force of the government or authority, even if taken away.

Anarchism isn’t just an abolition of the state, it’s the abolition of all institutions which initiate violence against people. The idea of anarchists focusing only on the abolition of the state is antithetical, if other oppressive institutions existed post-state, they would take on statist properties. White supremacy is as much a class rule as the state is.


The goal of anarchism is a controlled demolition of all structural violence, simultaneously; Anarchism is as much of a controlled demolition of patriarchy, of white supremacy and of the gender binary as it is of the state. Anarchist principality by nature is anti-racist, anti-sexist and anti-gender binary.


That’s not to say that every anarchist (especially male anarchists, and white ones) notices the correlation between structural violence against social groups and the state, but in theory anarchism with patriarchy, or anarchism with white supremacy, or anarchism with a gender binary, would not be anarchism.

As Mikhail Bakunin said, “The freedom of all is essential to my freedom”

Because are not these things tools by which the state controls and manipulates the people?  Again, Autumn dishes out some truth.

Also, anarchists who are not interested in dismantling their own privilege (white, male, hetero, cis, whatever) and the systems that maintain them (not just the state and police, also belief systems, thoughts, and ways we go about conducting social interactions) need to gtfo


And if you are uncritically calling to “occupy everything” and are not thinking about how white folks already “occupy everything” you also need to gtfo or start calling for decolonization and deoccupation instead.
